Frequently Asked Questions
There's plenty of options and options can be overwhelming.
Let's keep it simple.
Headshots - choose these if you would like three images of your face, to be used throughout the year on group lineups, club spots, profile picture etc. Here are some examples.
Basic Poster image - pretty much the same as headshots, but with the intention of using this image as the poster image to promote your solo show. We'll spend a bit more time finessing and probably capture the image with the wider frame than the close up frame of a headshot. There's no crazy background created in Photoshop, but maybe you bring some props or wardrobe options. This is a new booking category, but there are examples on the headshot page including Jordan Barr, Takashi Wakasugi and Kirsty Webeck.
Premium Poster image - choose this if you want a poster image with a creative idea behind it. Have a look at examples on the comedy page of my site to get a sense of the type of silly nonsense we can create together. These images require more planning, more time in the studio to fuss, and way more time in Photoshop.
Custom booking - Not everything can forced into a neat category or on a specific date at a specific time, so if you're feeling like you need something outside of the above options, a Custom Photoshoot is probably your best bet. If you have an idea for a photoshoot that's outside of the studio, or inside the studio, but outside of available booking times go Custom. Examples would include Maren May's Why Haven't You Listened To That Song I Sent You on-location photoshoot or Tommy Dassalo's A 7 Minute Voice Memo Left On Seen photoshoot in a local bakery or even Joel Creasey's photoshoot in his garage.
I hope that clears things up.
You can always email me with info and I can help you choose.

Yeah no problemo.
You can't do it on this site, but just email me and we'll sort it out.

If you'd like to change a headshot session for one of the poster sessions, we might need to figure out a different day. Once again, email me to work something out.
If the time / date you've booked no longer works for you, it should be easy to reschedule for a different time / date. You guessed it - email me.
If you need to reschedule or cancel within 48 hours of the shoot and I'm not able to reschedule the studio booking (which I will have already paid for), I will ask you to cover the costs and send you an invoice so that I'm not out of pocket.
Yep, you can change your mind, I won't be mad.
Please give me 48 hours notice so that I can try to find someone to fill your spot.
If you need to cancel within 48 hours of the shoot and I'm not able to reschedule the studio hire (which I will have already paid for), I will ask you to cover the studio hire costs and send you an invoice so that I'm not out of pocket. Not the full amount of the session, I'm not a monster.
It could be that our calendars are not yet aligned my friend.
Send me an email and we can work out a time and date that works for both of us.

Yes, absolutely.
The option to add a H&MU or Headshots to a Poster shoot can be added later, just send me an email and let me know what you would like to add. The more time I have to organise a Hair & Makeup Artist or book extra time in the studio would be appreciated so please don't leave it to the last minute.
• Yourself
• A good attitude.
• The clothes you would like to wear.
• Some backup clothes that you might also want to wear.
• Any props that you think would make the image funnier.
• You should probably invite your Management / Producer.
• A friend or squad of people to hype you up if you're feeling nervous.
• A Hair & Makeup Artist (I can also help you organise a talented H&MUA).
All Comedy Photoshoots booked using the booking scheduler on my website will be at Kindred Cameras in Docklands.
Please note this is a different place to Kindred Bandroom in Yarraville.
No, we can shoot wherever you feel comfortable.
If you would like to shoot somewhere specific, we'll need to change the session to a Custom Booking and we can figure out an alternate time and place.
As soon as I can, I'll put together PDFs with thumbnails of all the usabe images from the shoot day. These are called Contact Sheets.
Once you've sent me the image number that you would like me to work on, I'll get stuck into editing.
Depending on the number of images / amount of Photoshop required, this may take a few days or a week. I'll try to be as transparent as possible about the timeline once I know what it is we're creating.
I'll send Work In Progress (WIP) images
~ in the case of headshots and basic posters ~
I'll send retouched images with a variety of colour backgrounds to choose from.
You'll let me know if you're happy with the level of retouching (too little / too much etc) and which three colours you like for each image. Along with any opther feedback. Then I'll output all final files (they'll be labelled Master files) as High Resolution JPG and Low Resolution JPG. As well as PNG files with a transparent background.
~ for premium posters ~
The first WIP will likely be a rough composite to make sure you're happy with the composition and direction. I'll send you WIPs any time I need feedback on the image. And the sooner I hear back from you, the sooner I can take on your feedback. Before sending the final artwork, I'll make sure you're happy with every little detail. When I send the final files (they'll be labelled Master files) I might send an alt version with a final colour grade (this is like a subtle colour filter over the image). You can use whichever version you think looks best.
I'll send you an invoice at the very end of the job, once you're completely happy with everything.
Invoices will have a 14 day due date from the day I send it to you.
Yeah absolutely.
Everything is expensive.
I'd hate for you to miss a car payment because you thought I'd take your fingers for not paying me on time.
Just let me know at the start of the project if you would like to split your invoice payments over multiple weeks or months. And then remind me towards the end of the project that I agreed to this.
Yes and no.
Everything everywhere is more expensive than last year. Sorry.
I have however created a new, more affordable option called Basic Poster which will be a cheaper option for comedians wanting a nice poster image without the frills and thrills of a Premium Poster image.
